 Objectives for initial implementation of Common Core State Standards

 Students will UNDERSTAND/KNOW:

• how to analyze and construct arguments (claims) grounded in evidence
• how to access and use complex texts to analyze and construct viable arguments
• how to express their content knowledge through writing and collaborative group discussions that use academic and content area vocabulary
• that collaborating and communicating with colleagues is a valuable way to create a viable argument
•  how to be actively and independently engaged in their own learning

 Students will be Able To:

• use evidence to support their claims in all subject areas
• use 21st Century technology skills to research, summarize, evaluate, analyze and communicate as critically thinking community members
• to integrate and deepen thoughts related to content standards using course content and academic vocabulary
• develop deep critical thinking skills
